Daz's Rock 4 Charity/Save Cert (UK)
May 14, 2017: Saw a fantastic fundraising afternoon held at the Sun Inn, Pooley Bridge, Cumbria, with lve music from professional musician and part-time charity
fundraiser Darren Sims, who offered CERT(UK) a lifeline to help raise vital funds to keep the doors of this vital charity from closing permanently. Darren heard about the charities plight via social
media, which was made even harder when they tried a last ditch attempt to raise funds quickly using Virgin Money Giving website which crashed on the weekend of the London Marathon.
Darren, felt he needed to help and contacted Sue Dust (Client Liaison) of CERT(UK). Darren offered to elp by donating his services for free, which was warmly
received by Sue and CERT(UK). Darren arranged for the posters to be printed and delivered.
There was live music from Darren and from local talent Harry King (aged 14), who wowed the crowd with multiple renditions of popular tunes and was joined at one
point by his father where they performed a duet.
Throughout the afternoon there was:
- a Raffle with many great prizes
- £1 lucky dip for children
- Charity Auction
- Cake stall with home-made produce, cakes, scones, bread & preservatives
Everyone joined in with the spirit of the day with a wonderful atmosphere, both Sue Dust and CEO Kerryanne Wilde are deeply grateful to the owners of the Sun Inn, John
& Jane, Manager Cameron and all the staff for their hospitality and graciously allowing CERT(UK) the use of their facilities. Nothing was too much trouble for the Inn's wonderful staff who helped
to make the whole afternoon a success. CERT(UK) would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who attended, we thank you for your support.
A sum of £1,000 was raised by Daz and his followers, family and friends in advance of the day, with £800 plus raised on the day, providing a total over £1800.
